- Profile:
I developed an interest in Wood Carving while working in Saudi Arabia.
There was very little to do except work. So for a little distraction during
my free time, I started whittling.
From scrap wood I whittled chains, a ball in the cage, etc. When I returned
to the U.S., I stopped carving until I retired. Then I found a carving
class in 1989 at Washington Township High School, after that I was hooked
on Carving and have kept up my interest to this day.
My other interests include Playing Golf, Bowling and crossword puzzles.
I'm married and together my wife Fran and I have nine children and sixteen
grandchildren, we go broke on Holidays and Birthdays.
My favorite foods include Steaks and a good Omelet.
I worked for Honeywell, Inc. for 34 years; I held various positions, Field
Service Engineer, Regional Engineering Mgr. Regional Construction Mgr.
Senior Project Mgr. Etc. I worked out of the Phila. Branch office for
22 years and then started traveling. I worked out of field offices in
Pittsburgh, Chicago, Brunswick Ga., and Saudi Arabia.
I haven't taught carving, though I've attended Carving Workshops. I would
run a class but don't feel I'm cutout to be a fulltime instructor.
I find the Carving Community an interesting and diverse group. The members
all bring different talents to the meetings. I feel that our club and
the Carving Community could benefit by each individual giving more of
themselves and their talents to the club.
I like Pfeil Gouges and Chisels, Dremel Power tools and Colwood Burning
Tools.
I admire quite a few people in particular my wife and children, also one
individual that I admire, is Pat DeAngelis, for the talent and enthusiasm
he brings to every activity.
I plan on being in the next show our club puts on.
